    Firearms Tip #3

If you can't clear and reload your weapon IN THE DARK in seconds, then you are at personal risk. It is too late to be trying to remember where the magazine release button or safety release/engage button is when you wake up in your bedroom after hearing noise down the hall, in your own home. The following is a TRUE STORY. Years ago, (1977) I came home very, very drunk after partying with some friends after our having won the Fort Lewis, Washington 9th Infantry Division Football Championship (9-man tackle) at Tacoma, Washington. I know I am dating myself. The only reason my wife did not shoot me dead after my failing to respond was because she could not remember how to release the safety on our sole pistol. I was singing too loud to even realize she was calling me. Note: Today, I no longer drink alcohol.
